Thao Noodles May Land a Block North of Bao Noodles on 2nd Avenue

        A new tension in the soap opera marriage of Michael Huynh and Thao Nguyen strikes as Nguyen waits for the lease to arrive on Thao Noodles, her new Second Avenue venture a block north of Bao Noodles

sandwich shop at 61 Lexington as his.  But when I call Baoguette, to ask why the phone is not answering at Pho Sure, her husband’s West Village venture, I’m told, “We’re not related.”

        “But you are related,” I protest. “Your boss is married to him.”

        Meanwhile I hear Nguyen, the wife Michael found and wooed in her parents restaurant, is telling friends the two units are hers.

        Huynh, the ambitious, savvy and talented architect-turned chef – he designed and built the new BarBao uptown as well as the charming little Pho Sure -- has left hearts broken all along the trail of abandoned enterprises since his food first won my raves in New York at the now defunct Bao 111. But Thao is smart and tough. Let's hope she gets it in writing.
